Dave's Notes
In this day and age it's rare to find a home that reflects so much of another day and age ... but what a pleasure when you do.
Having grown up just around the corner I have very intimate knowledge of the neighbourood, and in fact my family waited years to be able to move back ... maybe I'm a bit biased .. but the east side of Cobourg near King Street and the lake is a lifestyle that would be very hard to duplicate. Walking to the beach and harbour, or downtown along tree lined streets. Knowing your neighbours by their first names being a part of a community are all what Henry and King Streets are all about.
But this house ..... always one of the special ones .. always well cared for and always well lived in. I have known this home for 35 years .... and I'm always taken back when I enter the front foyer. The gleaming wood, the high ceilings .. the grand stair all make you feel so safe.
You become so mesmerized by the standard that it's easy to overlook the practical layout which is great for both entertaining or family time. And the rooms are so bright, with oversized windows in greater numbers than you'd expect that it's easy to overlook the shear size of the space (perfectly balanced for the high ceiling, large window large room).
Built when kitchens were important ~ this one is a beauty. Updated cabinets grace a functional room room with lots of light and tons of storage. The Hub of the home ... the kitchen leads to the formal areas as well as the main floor laundry and garage area. In another era this may have been referred to as the "service area" of the home.
Upstairs the 4 bedrooms offer great space, lots of built ins and storage and more windows than you would normally expect.
It's an old home ~ with all of the character of an older stately home .... but it's solid ~ it's healthy ~ and it's safe investment.
It's a pleasure for me to be involved with the marketing of this fine home. |
